How does illume work? illume Skylight Alternative creates harmony between internal and external lighting using Ambient Light Technologu (A.L.T). The system comes to life and adjusts itself as the sun makes its way across the sky. Just like traditional skylights, the light emitted by an illume system is variable based on the angle of sunlight and volume of cloud cover.
The skylight alternative that you can install in any room on any floor of any residential, commercial or public building. Unlike traditional skylights, you don’t require direct roof access to install an illume skylight alternative. You can place an illume panel in any internal space where additional daytime lighting is of benefit including basements, pantries, walk-in wardrobes, internal bathrooms and ground floor living rooms in multi-story floor-plans.
No heat transfer:
Unlike a traditional skylight, room temperature is not compromised by a shaft breaking the integrity of insulation against external conditions. It means that an illume fitted space will retain heat in winter and repel heat in summer more efficiently than a shafted skylight system would thereby further adding to utility cost savings.
No leaks:
Fitting an illume requires no modification to the roof structure. With all roof materials remaining intact, there is no opportunity for water to pool or trickle down through the light diffuser.

illume is entirely powered by solar energy with no mains power or batteries required. Just like a traditional skylight, illume brightens your space during the day reflecting external light conditions and sustainably reducing utility energy costs.
Costs can vary depending on certain aspects such as the space you wish to utilise in your attic, the type of attic ladder that suits your needs and amount of storage space you want.
Most of our rooms are costed on a transparent square metre pricing structure so there are no hidden costs. A truss roof attracts a slightly higher rate, but we will advise of this right from the start.
Sorry no, we only install storage areas and ladders to access your attic, which are completely different from living/habitable areas and cannot be used as such.

Yes, in most cases we can re-route the ducting if required. This is a common task as the ducting is most often run on a direct route to the outlet running across the path of the most usable storage area.

Yes, depending on the weight. We build a sub frame on top of your existing ceiling joists upon which we securely screw down our flooring which is engineer approved to hold 75 kg per square metre, plus your own weight.
An appraisal is completely free and without obligation. Most of the time I’m also able to quote over the phone if provided with a clear picture! However sometimes I need to visit the site in person, completely free of charge.

Jake SI rang Eoin today to organise a repair or a replacement of my currently old but functional attic ladder. A visiting tradesman had bent it and it would no longer close. Eoin took me through the options and offered to drop by on his way to another job for a look to see what best to do. I asked if I should send some photos to help him out in preparation for the repairs/replacement. I sent them through and whilst talking to him, he proceeded to tell me how to fix my problem from the pictures over the phone. He said ring me back if it doesn’t work and I will come as arranged. So 10 minutes later, attic ladder all fixed and no need for repair or replacement. Eoin did himself out of a job, by being a decent bloke. I can’t speak to his work, but if it matches his integrity and decency, it will be top notch. The minute my current arrangement actually breaks, he is the only person I will call. Give him a ring, you won’t regret it.
